Ethiopian Guji coffee comes from the Guji zone in the Oromia region of southern Ethiopia. Guji is considered part of the Sidamo coffee-growing region, but it has its own distinct flavor profile. The area is known for its high altitudes, rich soil, and favorable climate, making it ideal for cultivating high-quality Arabica coffee beans.

This coffee is highly regarded for its vibrant flavors and complexity, making it a favorite among coffee aficionados.

Flavor

Ethiopian Guji coffee is known for its vibrant, complex flavor profile. It features a bright acidity, often citrusy or wine-like, and fruity notes like berry, peach, or apricot. Guji coffees also have a floral aroma, with hints of jasmine or lavender.

The coffee is typically sweet, with flavors like honey or brown sugar, and can have tea-like or herbaceous qualities. The body is light to medium, offering a smooth and clean mouthfeel.

The washed process highlights clarity, while natural processing brings out more sweetness and body. Overall, Guji is a balanced, elegant cup loved for its depth and complexity.

how we collect from the region

Like in most regions, coffee smallholders run the coffee market. You can find countless small plots, or coffee gardens, of no more than 0,25 to 2 hectares upon the high mountains of the Guji region. Besides these small farms, you find washing stations where smallholders deliver their cherries. As a coffee exporter in Ethiopia, we collect our coffees directly from these dry processing stations. And because we are close to the source and often pre-book coffees early in the season, we can select the Gujji coffees that stand out. The tiles underneath showcase a few of our top supply chains from the GUji region.
